The Great Battle of Chickamauga

, one of the greatest wars in history took place. The confederate's general, Braxton Bragg, led his army of 66,000 troops to victory at the battle of Chickamauga. The union general,William Rosecrans, had an army of around 48,000. William Rosecrans, union general, was born on September 6, 1819 in Delaware City, Ohio. At first, he started off as a drillmaster for the Marion Rifles. The total number of casualties for the confederates was about 18,000. The total casualties for the union was about 16,000. This was the 2nd deadliest battle in the civil war. The battle of Chickamauga was one of the most interesting wars in the civil war. Chickamauga is the 1st and largest National Military. It was dedicated in 1895. Another interesting fact about this war was that Mary Todd Lincoln's brother and half brothers all fought in the battle of Chickamauga for the confederates. Mary Todd Lincoln was the wife of the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.
